Free public event: New insights into men's health

Sleep disorders, obesity, sensitive bladders and stress are among the many men's health issues to be discussed at a free public seminar being held in ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø this Friday 16 November.
Hosted by the University of ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø and the , the event - called New insights into men's health - will be held from 1.00pm-5.00pm in the Great Hall of the Freemasons Grand Lodge, 254 North Terrace, ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø.
Members of the community will hear about the latest research developments that form part of a major study into men's health, known as MAILES (Men, Androgens, Inflammation, Lifestyle, Environment & Stress).
Key speakers and their topics include:
- Sleep disordered breathing - the not-so-silent epidemic (Professor Robert Adams, Health Observatory, University of ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø)
- Obesity and chronic disease (Dr Sarah Appleton, Health Observatory, University of ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø)
- Depression and use of health care service in men (Mr Brett Scholz, School of Psychology, University of ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø)
- Beyond the Bladder (Mr Sean Martin, Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men's Health, University of ÑÇÖÞ²ÊÆ±¹ÙÍø)
In all, there will be eight presentations offering insights into a range of men's health issues, and opportunities for members of the community to discuss these issues with researchers and clinicians.
